William George Shubert, 90, of Palmyra, Virginia departed this world for the heavens above on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, after a long battle with a broken hip. Bill was loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born to the late Frank A. Shubert and Pauline C. Shubert in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
Bill loved to play sports, going hunting and fishing. After graduating high school, Bill went to school to be a Barber. Even though he enjoyed it, he felt that it was not his calling, so Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his service Bill trained to be a Rescue Diver and was called upon to recover downed planes, ships and even the remains from fatalities.
Bill met the love of his life, Beverly M. Handley, in the late 60s. Beverly was the mother of six children but that did not deter Bill. The love that Bill had for Beverly was unconditional.
Bill is survived by his stepsons Tom Ford (Melinda), Dan Ford (Nancy), Carlton Ford (Cindy), William (Billy) Shubert (Christy); his stepdaughter Kelly (Olita); as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Beverly M. Shubert, his stepson John Ford, and his two grandsons Brian Shubert and Steven Potts.
