Solomon Cohill Dean, 76, of Virginia, passed away at his home on March 2, 2024.

Solomon was born on March 22, 1947, to Gilbert and Hattie Dean.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby May Dean;  his children, Doris Dean Pritchett, Calvin Dean, Donna Lynn Dean, Deborah “Debbie” Forbes affectionately known as Groundhog, (Tommy), Floyd Thomas Dean; his grandchildren Christy, Justin Pritchett Owen, Tonya Jeffrey Payne, Tammy, Todd Trent, Kimberly, Robert Kidd, Tiffany, Anthony Gibson Thacker, Elizabeth, Christopher Gibson, Ashley, Dwayne Shifflett, Erin Dean, Travis Dean, Codie Forbes, Victoria, Jacob Musselman, Danny Pritchett, Jr., Kyesha, Davon Dean, Dylan Marshall Dean, Budd Dean, Sierra Dean; His Great Grandchildren Thomas Hughes, Jr. “Poot Hughes”, Noah, Jace Owen, John Payne, William, Holden Trent, Robert III, Kourtney Kidd, Jacob, Ryker, and Kinsley Thacker, Ronald Jr., Dallas, Emmitt, Ashelyn, Titan, and Nova Shifflett, Tanner, Hailey, Elizabeth “Ellie” Butler, Baby Madilyn McCauley, Gracelyn Musselman, Ava Lynn Pritchett, Riverlyn Dean, Bryson Dowell; His Niece Paula Faye Dean; His Nephews Jimmy and Larry Dean; His best friends Roger and Patsy Lamb. Roger was like a brother to him and many foster children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Lee and Hattie Dean; his brothers Homer Sue Dean, Gilbert Lee Dean, Jr. “Dizzy”, Clifton Warfield Dean; his sister Virginia “Jenny” Dean; His Great Grandson Danny Lynn Pritchett III; His Nephew Eddie Dean and his best friend Ronald Shifflett.

Solomon was a roofer; he was self-employed with the family name of Dean’s Roofing. Cohill loved to drag race, and work on his vehicles. Cohill’s accomplishments were to make sure his family had a good loving home that they could always come back to.

A funeral service will take place at 12:40pm, March 11th, at Dean’s Family Cemetery, 2343 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Sheridan Funeral Home will handle his arrangements.
