Ruby Dean

Ruby Dean of Charlottesville Va. went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026, at the age of 78. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Ruby Dean was proceeded in death by her mother Maybell (Tyler) Harris, Father Cecil Sites, husband Solomon Cohill Dean and brothers Eddie Deane and Jimmy Dean.

Ruby was survived by her sisters Patricia Bishop (Earnest "Bud" Bishop) Diane Cobb (Pete Cobb) and Lucy Pritchett, also her brother Cecil Sites (Shirley Sites). Her children Doris Pritchett, Calvin Dean, Donna Dean, Debra Forbes (Thomas Forbes) and Floyd "Thomas" Dean. Her grandchildren Christy Pritchett (Justin Owen), Kimberly Kidd (Robert Kidd),[Danny Pritchett Jr (Kyesha Stanley), Ashley Shifflett (Dwayne Shifflett), Erin Dean, Victoria Musselman (Jacob Musselman), Dylan Marshall, Tiffany Gibson (Anthony "Boe" Thacker), Elizabeth Gibson, Tonya Payne (Jeffery Payne), Tammy Trent (Todd Trent), Codi Forbes (Oscar McCauley), Travis Dean, Davon Dean(Caitlyn Watts), Budd Dean, Sierra Dean (DayDay Dowell).Her great grandchildren Thomas Hughes Jr, Noah Owen, Jace Owen, Robert Kidd III, Kourtney Kidd, Ava Pritchett, DJ Shifflett, Dallas Shifflett, Emmet Shifflett, Ashlyn Shifflett, Titan Shifflett, Nova Shifflett, Gracelyn Musselman, Jacob Thacker, Ryker Thacker, Kinsley Thacker, Journey Thacker, John Payne, Will Trent, Holden Trent, Ellie Butler, Madi-Sue McCauley, Riverlyn Dean, Waylon Dean, and Bryson Dowell.

Ruby had so much love for family she became a Foster Parent to Sally Gentry, Ann Marsh, Nina Gonzales, and Ashley Manuel. Ruby had the biggest heart and would help anyone and everyone if she could. She also had a big heart for animals. She said that dogs would love you better than people.

Ruby was a nurse in her early years for 16 years and she gave that up to stay home with her granddaughter Tiffany, She then went into babysitting while at home and ended her career as a Caregiver to two people who she ended up loving like family.

Family Night will be held at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Road, Kents Store, Virginia, on January 16, 2026, from 6pm to 7:30pm. Graveside service will be held at Deans Cemetery 2343 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy Charlottesville at 11 a.m. on January 17, 2026.
