Richard Charles Heath

Richard C. Heath, 55, of Owings, Maryland, passed on June 5, 2024 with his family at his side. He was born on November 9th, 1968 in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Rich attended Seneca Valley High School & Montgomery College. He left college and became a stone mason while he pursued his dream of becoming a public servant in Law Enforcement. After several years, he was asked to join the Louisa County Sherriff's Office in Louisa, VA where he served with the hope of making a difference in people’s lives for the better. Rich had a passion for history and loved researching his family lineage back for generations. He was a diehard Redskins fan, Orioles fan, and loved Nascar. He was a musician who loved his guitars and appreciated all genres of music. Most of all, Rich was a humble man, a man of faith, and he truly loved helping people whenever he could.

Rich is survived by his wife, Catherine; son, Branden M. Mistisshen; mother, Mary Ellen Srnecz (Sparrough); aunt, Ann Sparrough; step-mother, Arline Norby Heath; brother-in-law’s, Mike (Lisa) Mistisshen; Steve (Kim) Mistisshen; Peter Mistisshen; John (Donna) Mistisshen II; a foster son, Andrew Pauley; step-siblings, Andrew (Michelle) Srnecz; Christine (Dan) Tutak; Mick (Kim) Srnecz; Jean Srnecz; Rob (Augustina) Srnecz; other aunts, many cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Charles Heath; step-father, John J. Srnecz; and an uncle, Richard L. Sparrough.

All those he touched and loved, he did so deeply. Please join us in celebrating his life, a visitation is set for Sunday, June 9th, 2024 from 2pm-4pm at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Rd, Kents Store, VA 23084. A Funeral service will take place at 11am Monday, June 10th, 2024 at Mineral Baptist Church, 51 Louisa Ave, Mineral, VA 23117. All are invited to attend. There will be an opportunity for those that would like to share a few words about Rich at his service. Burial will be held in Brunswick, GA.
