Raymond Burris

Raymond Douglas Burris, affectionately known as Doug, was born on January 19, 1949, in Pulaski County, Virginia, and passed away peacefully at his home in Goochland, Virginia, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born to the late Eula Jean Field and Raymond Coolidge Burris, Doug was preceded in death by his parents and lived a life rooted in love, family, and integrity. He will be remembered for his warm heart, steady wisdom, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Mackenzie Burris; his loving daughters, Shannon Renee Lane and Amy Kristin Burris; his treasured grandson, Kaeden Taylor Snodgrass; and his step-grandson, Christopher James Lane.

Doug dedicated much of his professional life as a Computer Engineer for the Department of Motor Vehicles, where he combined technical expertise with a commitment to service. His work reflected his passion for problem-solving and innovation.

Outside of his career, Doug embraced life with enthusiasm and creativity. He was an avid photographer, a talented drummer and bass guitarist, and a spirited competitor on the racquetball court. He also loved the thrill of windsurfing, always seeking adventure and joy in the outdoors.

His life was a testament to kindness and strength, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
