Myra Ruth Webb, formerly of Palmyra, VA, and Ripley, WV, was called up to Christ on July 5. Wise, faithful, and trusting in the Lord, Ruth was a woman of character and more precious than rubies. Though she walked through many valleys, she was filled with joy and peace that surpasses understanding.
Born to Mary Ruth and Thomas Graham Walters on August 27, 1937, Ruth spent her early years in Darlington, SC. As a teen, she lived in Richmond, where she met her future husband, Kenneth O. Webb. They, along with her siblings, Annette and Thomas, greeted her in heaven.
The third of 7 children, Ruth was no stranger to hard work. After graduating from John Marshall High School, she earned her PHT at Virginia Tech, serving as an administrative assistant while helping her husband finish his engineering degree. She continued her devoted support for Ken as he built West Virginia’s highway system. A caregiver by nature, Ruth made many sacrifices to raise 6 children, ensuring all had a Christian foundation, piano lessons, and a college education.
Ruth unabashedly shared Jesus with everyone she met. She ministered to the community through her volunteer pursuits, including serving in Palmyra’s Bethel Baptist Church Children’s programs and the Fluvanna Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. Even late in life, Ruth used the physical obstacles she faced to help her witness.
Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of faithfulness are her loving children: Diane (Kevin), Bill (Sheryl), Robert (Cloe), Tricia (Brad), Christy (Bob), and Kathy (Ronnie); grandchildren: Paul, Ashli, Jeremy, Josh, Michael, Jordain, Dustin, Victoria, Luke, and Kyson; sisters: Linda, Carole, Martha, and Phyllis; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and the many people she touched along the way with her sweetness, including her special caregivers at Raspberry Hill Adult Daytime Center in Bedford, VA.
We will miss the laughter, love and protecting prayers you gave us every day, Momma. We hope you enjoy the many lipsticks that we are positive are among the treasures you built up in heaven. Rest well until we can sing with you again. We can only imagine.
Services will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, in both of her most recent communities: Forest Alliance Church, Forest, VA: visitation 10:00am followed by Celebration of Life and Reawakening in Christ at 11:00am.
