Mitzi Proffitt

Mitzi C. Proffitt, age 69, of Palmyra, Virginia, passed away on May 12, 2026. Born on March 24, 1957, she was the beloved daughter of the late Haskell Canter and Betty Jo Canter.

Mitzi was a devoted mother who cherished her family above all else. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Victoria Melton and her husband Steven; her sons, Justin Canter and his wife Valerie,and Stephan Proffitt and his wife Selena. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her brother, Haskell Canter III.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Vickie Brown, and her brothers Stephen Canter and Jeffrey Canter.

Mitzi's family was the heart of her life, and she will be remembered for the love and dedication she showed as a mother.

She is in the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.

The family will honor Mitzi's life with a private memorial.
