Lisa A. Carriker, 65, of Virginia, formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on August 22, 2025.
Born and raised in Charlotte, Lisa dedicated much of her life to serving her community as an officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. She carried her badge with courage and compassion, embodying a deep sense of duty and kindness in all that she did.
In 2018, Lisa expanded her commitment to service by joining Goochland Fire Rescue Company 6 in Hadensville, Virginia. She became a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and volunteered her time as an active auxiliary member. Known for her generosity of spirit, Lisa often brought her beloved Leonbergers to the station for therapy visits, offering comfort and companionship to first responders. She also made regular visits with Kane and Dancer to local nursing homes, where her dogs, as certified therapy animals, brought joy and peace to the residents.
Lisa’s greatest joy was her love of Leonberger dogs. She was not only passionate about breeding, raising, and showing them—she was also a mentor and guiding light to many in the Leonberger community. Highly respected and dearly loved, Lisa shared her knowledge generously and built lasting friendships through her devotion to the breed.
Her friends and family loved her deeply. They admired her bravery, her tender heart, and her resilience. Lisa endured the heartbreaking loss of her mother and both of her brothers, yet she continued to live with strength, grace, and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Kessiah Carriker; her brothers, Bo Carriker and Scott Carriker; and her beloved Leonbergers, Jake and Dancer. She is survived by her cherished Leonberger, Kane, and her cat, Ruger, who were her constant companions.
A memorial service to celebrate Lisa’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Hadensville Fire Rescue 4810 Three Chopt Rd. Hadensville, Virginia.
Friends and loved ones are invited to drop in during this time to share memories and stories in her honor.
Lisa will be remembered not only for her service and accomplishments, but for the love, wisdom, and warmth she shared so freely. Her absence leaves a great void, but her spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.
