Linda Morris McCarthy passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Virginia Morris; her brother, Milas “Butch” Morris; and his wife, Becky. She is survived by her sister, Helen Fleming, and brother-in-law Tommy; her beloved “children of the heart,” Sarah and her husband David, Richard and his wife Kelly, and David Jr.; and her seven cherished grandchildren, Catharine, Liam, Hayden, Emme, Megan, Lana, and Patrick.
Linda grew up in Kents Store and attended Byrd Chapel Church. She graduated from Fluvanna County High School, continued her education at Madison College, and later earned her degree from VCU. She devoted her career to serving the families of Richmond as an adoption and foster care social worker, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
She had a deep love for travel and adventure, sharing many memorable experiences with friends and family. Her journeys took her all over Europe and Asia. Linda had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, loved, and valued. She was truly one of the kindest people you could ever meet, a pure and gentle soul whose, patience, and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her kindness touched everyone she met.
Later, Linda met the love of her life, David McCarthy. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and simple joys; days on the boat, the “Linda Lee,” time spent with their grandchildren, and the daily breakfast dates they rarely missed. They continued traveling together and creating meaningful memories along the way. Nags Head, North Carolina, held the most special place in their hearts, where they spent treasured time with family often. Linda had a heart of gold in its truest form. Her grandchildren often described her as a rainbow—bringing light, warmth, and peace wherever she went. Her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with David, and that they are together once again.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Linda will be laid to rest, along with her husband David, at a graveside service at Byrd Chapel Church in Kents Store on May 9 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Becky’s Place for The Breast Cancer Foundation, in honor of her sister-in-law, Becky. https://www.vbcf.org/beckys-place-at-ram/
