Lawrence Birckhead

Lawrence Allen Birckhead, born September 28, 1960, in Charlottesville, Virginia, completed his earthly journey on February 2, 2026, at his home in Palmyra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Betty Bishop. A lifelong Virginian, Lawrence spent most of his years in Fluvanna County, surrounded by the people and places he loved most.

Known affectionately as “Bubba,” Lawrence was one of four siblings: Albert, Penny, and Sandy. He later built a beautiful life with his sweetheart, Darlene Sanchez, with whom he shared 32 devoted years.

Bubba had a gift for working with his hands. Whether repairing and restoring vehicles or painting as part of his trade, he approached every project with skill and pride. Music was another of his joys, and his guitar was never far from reach. He and Darlene filled their home with love, laughter, and a steady parade of cherished furbabies who were, in every way, part of the family. Summers found them outdoors, tending a garden that overflowed with fruits and vegetables, simple pleasures that brought them deep happiness. Lawrence lived life fully, quietly, and sincerely, valuing the people around him and forming friendships that became family.

He is treasured beyond measure and will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
