Jerry Wayne Bailey

Jerry Wayne Bailey, 74, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on November 5, 2025. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Payne Bailey; three children, Tracie Bailey Wooten (Jimmy), Joseph Christopher Stanley (Stephanie), and Sharon Bailey Ashley (Seth); and five grandchildren; Joseph Andrew Stanley, Rachael Emerson Stanley, Tabitha Marie Stanley, James Christensen Ashley, and Jacob Bailey Ashley. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Eugene Bailey (Anne), dear cousins, Bonnie Bailey Watts (Harry) and Connie Palmer Lawson (Donnie); along with many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry James Bailey and Dema Mylum Bailey.

A graduate of the University of Richmond, Jerry built a respected career as a Financial Professional beginning in 1983. He served faithfully for 12 years on the Hanover County Planning Commission and was a devoted member of Gethsemane Church of Christ. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Jerry found his greatest peace in nature, whether in the woods or on the sporting clay range.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Church of Christ in Mechanicsville, Virginia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, also at Gethsemane Church of Christ (5146 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, VA 23111), with interment to follow at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Goochland, Virginia.
