Willie Marshall Hopkins

Willie Marshall Hopkins, affectionately known as Marshall, went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2022. Marshall was born May 10, 1937, in Louisa County, Virginia to Harry A. Hopkins and Grace P. Hopkins. Marshall is proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce Brown, and his nephew Barry Brown. He is survived by his wife Shirley, three brothers Donald (Margaret) Hopkins, David Hopkins, Gerald (Susan) Hopkins, his children, Scott (Melissa) Hopkins, Stephen (Sharon), Kelley Hopkins and Patti (Steve) Rawls, A dear special friend Melissa Moyers, his grandchildren, Meredith (Taylor) Saxon, Mason Rawls, Lily Mae Hopkins, Perry Hopkins, Brady Hopkins, and Jackson Hopkins, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marshall was a 1957 graduate of Louisa County High School. He was an Army Veteran who loved his country. Marshall was the owner and operator of Hopkins Lumber Company, which served Louisa and surrounding counties. After retirement, if you knew Marshall, he had to be doing something. He could be found doing a little bit of everything from working with the county of Louisa to operating heavy equipment. His free time was spent with the ones he loved, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working and tending to his garden. Marshall was a very active member in his church community and received recognition for being a Deacon for 38 years. Graveside service will be held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on Friday November 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Sheridan Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
