Faye Martin Burkett, of Gum Spring, Virginia, was called to her heavenly home on October 13, 1026.
Born on March 28, 1951 to Kermit and Elizabeth Martin, Faye was a beacon of love and kindness to those around her. A lifelong resident of Gum Spring, Faye found joy in her hometown and was an active member of the Gum Spring United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She served as the front desk clerk at Dr. Bain's office for years where she got to interact with her community.
Faye's life was a testament to love. Her welcoming spirit was renowned, and she had a great gift for making everyone feel at home. Known for her big hugs, Faye's love knew no bounds and she extended it to everyone she encountered. Her family was her heart and soul, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her children, Timmy Burkett and his wife Meaghan, and Jessica Slusher and her husband Jason, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her grandchildren, Bailey, Hannah, Noah, Addison, Ruth, Lydia, and Jude were the light of her life, and she cherished being their “gammaw” and “grangran”.
You would be hard-pressed to find Faye without at least one of her sisters nearby: Rebecca Armentrout and her late husband Mitchell, Judy Guild and her husband, Dave, or Estelle Pruden and her husband, Eston. More than sisters, they were her best friends and greatest support system. Along with her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, they made up the family she cherished so dearly. Family was everything to Faye, and she was happiest when they were all together.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Kermit and Elizabeth Martin, her son Justin Burkett, and her devoted husband, Dolphus Burkett of 46 years. Their memory lived on in her heart, and she now joins them in eternal peace.
Faye Martin Burkett's life was a testament to the power of love, and her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
A visitation will take place on Friday, October 16th, between 6:00-7:30pm and her funeral services will follow on Saturday, October 17th, 11:00am, both services will be held at Gum Spring United Methodist Church, 191 Cross County Road, Gum Spring, Virginia.
In honor of Faye's memory, the family requests that any donations be made to a Gum Spring United Methodist Church in her name.
