Erik Gustafson

Erik Polfelt Gustafson, 66, of Palmyra, Virginia. departed this life Monday October 19th, 2026. Erik was born in Denver, Colorado to Tor Bjorn and Ebba Polfelt on November 12, 1959.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Helen Varga Gustafson, son Ted Polfelt and wife Lindsay, grandchildren Natalie, Taylor and Ryland of Roanoke, Va. Daughter Jessica Polfelt Hosack and husband Scott of Missouri. Beloved sister Samantha Orleans Hansley and spouse Kevin of Florida. Half-brother Steve Okerman of Roanoke Virginia and longtime friend Brian Tomlin aka "Moose" of North Carolina. Erik leaves behind numerous relatives in the US and Sweden.

Erik was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother Torkel and beloved nephew Michael.

Erik truly lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling, biking and hiking. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, Virginia. Erik also earned his BS in psychology from UVA and was a tight end on the football team. Erik was an RN and worked for the past 29 years in psychiatry.

Graveside services will be held 11:00am, November 6th, at Evergreen Memorial Park, Roanoke, Virginia. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
