Edna Pugh

Edna Payne Melton Pugh, 93, of Fluvanna, died on April 2, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Amy Gladys Payne and Oscar Clifford Payne. She retired from Safeway Stores and was a lifetime member of Bybee’s Road Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Early Pugh; brothers Eugene Payne, William “Billy” Payne, and Norman Payne; and her former husband George J. Melton.

She is survived by her children J. Wayne Melton (Sheilah) and Becky Melton Hasher Loyd. She is also survived by her brothers, Holmes “Fella” Payne and Curtis Payne (Betty); her sisters, Agnes Wichael (Gene), Nora Light, and Elizabeth Bartholomew (Max); grandchildren, Patty Swain (Gary), Kathy Bickley, Cindy Bickley, Jeremy Hasher (Jennifer), Amy Hall (Robbie), and Donnie Melton (Bria); great grandchildren, Kyle Persinger, Justin Bickley, Christopher Black, Melanie Swain, Bailey Hall, Peyton Hasher, and Lydia Bickley; three great great grandchildren, Chloe, Maddie, and Wesley; her stepchildren, Tammy Garst and Danny Pugh; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bybee’s Road Baptist Church. Family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bybee’s Road Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
