Edith “Edie” Salmon, 72, of Goochland, Virginia, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2026.
Edie was born on May 1, 1954, to Edwin “Ed” and Sally Farren in New Haven, Connecticut and later moved to Goochland, Virginia.
Edie will be deeply missed by her husband, Michael Salmon, who was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on July 26. She will be also missed by her son, Lucas Salmon (Katie), daughter, Amanda Whitlatch (Scott) and grandchildren, Cole, Nash, Autumn, Ben, Dylan, Anthony and Mary. She is also survived by her brother, Edward, sister, Linda, half-sister, Debbie, many nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members.
In addition to her parents, Edie was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Farren, father and mother-in-law, Pent and Catherine Salmon, brother-in-law, Morgan Salmon, and niece and great-nephew, Crystal and Watson Gee.
Edie started her accounting career at Life of Virginia, and was “The Queen of Assets”, during her career at Luck Stone for over 35 years.
She also found great joy in serving others through her business, Edie’s Gourmet Catering, for which she became well known throughout the community.
Visitation will be held at Norman Funeral Home, located at 2982 River Road West, Goochland, Virginia 23063, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Smyrna Baptist Church, located at 1470 Rock Castle Road, Goochland, Virginia 23063, on June 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a graveside burial to follow at the Salmon family cemetery.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of sending flowers, donations be made to Fife Volunteer Fire Department at 2397 Hadensville-Fife Road, Goochland, VA 23063 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
