Duralene Sheridan Jordan, 82, passed away at home from cancer on August 21, 2025. She was surrounded by loved ones as she stepped through the veil to be with her family eternally.
She was born July 6, 1943, in Orchid, Louisa County, Virginia, at the home of her Sheridan grandparents, and was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Carlyle Sheridan and Thelma Ann Hurt Sheridan; her brother, Hugh Durwood Sheridan; and her daughter, Shawna Lynn Jordan. She is survived by her grandson, Colby Scott Jordan (Jessica Nguyen); by a cousin, Jason Wayne Sheridan; and by many other family members and close friends.
Duralene was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ with all her heart. She served in many capacities in the Church, and one of her favorites was the music leader in her congregation’s sacrament meetings.
She appreciated the constant acts of kindness and service provided by the Church’s Relief Society, who ensured that she had food and other needed items, as well as the company that is so important at these times. Many other relatives and friends also provided assistance, service, and prayers. Her lifetime friends Beverly Mazjer and Carolyn Brunson often stayed overnight to help during the last few months of her illness. She also greatly appreciated the services of Hospice of Virginia for their excellent medical and physical care.
Her funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday August 27th at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10660 Duryea Dr. Richmond, Virginia. A visitation will be held an hour prior starting at 10:00am.
Interment will follow at 2:00pm, Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, Virginia.
Sheridan Funeral Home will handle her arrangements.
