Douglas William Gandy, 70, of Goochland County, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Doug was born on June 30, 1955, to Thomas and Catherine Gandy and was raised in Oxon Hill, Maryland. His father taught him the values that would guide him throughout his life: hard work, kindness, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for family and friends.
After marrying the love of his life, Cindi, he moved to Virginia to raise their family. Doug dedicated his career to the printing industry and retired after 38 years with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. Doug enjoyed fishing and boating in the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River. He took pride in his vegetable garden and yard, and loved his dogs and Cindi’s delicious cooking. Doug never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a way of making people feel like old friends within minutes of meeting him.
He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Cindi Gandy; his daughters, Jennifer Gandy-Franklin (Matthew) and Kristin Gandy-Jolley (Justin); and his cherished grandsons, Eastham Franklin and Hudson Franklin. Though he will be missed, we take comfort in the memories he leaves behind: days spent on the water, laughter shared with family and friends, lessons taught by example, and the warm smile and steady love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the countless lives he touched through his kindness and friendship.
A Gathering of Friends will be held on Tuesday, June 16th from 3-5 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Goochland, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Goochland County Animal Shelter through Goochland Pet Lovers or to Goochland Cares.
