Carroll "Jack" Bruce

Carroll Douglas Burce, affectionately known as “Jack” was born June 24, 1949, to the late Luella L. Bruce in Fluvanna County, Virginia. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Beck Hughes, his niece, Lisa Hughes, and two uncles, Gill and Burks Bruce.

    Jack accepted Christ at an early age at Byrd Grove Baptist Church. Jack grew up in Kents Store, Virginia. He attended Fluvanna County Public Schools. Later in life he moved to Louisa, Virginia and lived at Epworth Manor apartments until his passing.

    Jack worked for several years at the local sawmill. He also helped people in the community by providing transportation to family and friends. He worked on cars, and he had a love for cooking, planting flowers and raising a garden.

    Jack leaves a loving family to cherish his memory; Haywood "Sam" Bruce (Elsie Bruce). Gail Bruce (Earl Nicholas) of Kents Store, Virginia, Peggy Bruce of Charlottesville, Virginia, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 21st, between the hours of 3:00-4:00pm at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Road, Kents Store and a funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00pm.

The Bruce family gratefully acknowledges the many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy received during the passing of our loved one. We extend a special thank you to the staff at the University of Virginia and Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Also, a special thank you to Shawnta Scott who provided exceptional care for 11 years. Jack's devoted friends were George Brooks, Ricky Ragland, June Brown, Lonnie Trice, John Johnson, Jimmy Smith, and a special friend Barbara Henson.
