Born in Jackson, Alabama, he left as a young man in the Army, and later settled in Virginia. Lamar was proud of his military service and had fond memories of his travels in Europe after World War II. He was active in his local Masonic lodge. A long-time employee of Virginia Sprinkler before retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, history, attending Byrd Chapel Methodist Church and spending time with his close friends in the ROMEO Club. Always ready with a story, Lamar enjoyed conversing with everyone and connected with so many people in his community. He also enjoyed teaching others about his woodworking craft. An avid NASCAR fan, Lamar also followed his favorite college football team, the University of Alabama, “Roll Tide!” A private service was held on Saturday, February 13, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held later this year. Arrangements are being handled by Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store, VA 23084.
