Bernard Grubbs
Bernard Winston Grubbs, 91, of Kents Store, Virginia, passed on to glory on March 1, 2024, with family at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille Grubbs, brother Ralph (Bubby) Grubbs, first wife Joyce Martin Grubbs and stepdaughter Dana Thacker Branch.
Bernard is survived by his loving wife of almost 39 years Phoebe Jane, son Kevin Grubbs of Mechanicsville, Virginia daughter Lorie Grubbs Seay (Chris) of Bumpass, Virginia, stepsons Robert Thacker (Sheila) of New Kent, Virginia and Thomas Thacker (Shannon) of Hugo, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Casey Grubbs Tuthill (Shawn), Nico Alessi (Sabrina), Adrianna Alessi (Jesse), Lindsey Branch and Julian Thacker. Great grandchildren Conlon, Dexter and Cooper Tuthill, Winston and Emerson (Emmy) Alessi and Aribella and Evangeline (Evie) Kight. Sister Dora Lee Haley (John) and brother Charlie Grubbs (Judy) and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
Bernard was full of life and laughs. He loved people! He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends and the community he grew up in and worked throughout his 91 years. Everyone was blessed by his love for serving people in the community and his God given gift of repairing cars and lawn mowers for decades here in Kents Store. He also loved watching baseball, raising large vegetable gardens, going to men’s breakfast at church, being part of Cabell Masonic Lodge and spending time talking with friends t around the fire at the “old shop”. He also devoted a lot of his time and love into mentoring his grandchildren.
Family will receive visitors March 6th, between the hours of 4:00- 6:00pm at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Rd., Kents Store, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held March 7th, 10:00am at Beulah Baptist Church, 1633 Kents Store Way, Kents Store, Virginia. Graveside service immediately to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, Virginia.
All are welcome for a reception following graveside at Beulah Baptist Church.
