Lawrence Raymond Askew

Lawrence Raymond Askew, of Bumpass, VA, passed away on August 12, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Robin; daughters, Angela (Steve), Amanda and Annie (Kyle); grandsons, Steven (Jessica), Hunter, Christian and Seth; granddaughters, Kaitlyn (Austin), Melody, Ellison and Faith; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Halston; sister, Ella; brother, Bane; and stepsister, Alice Ford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Joe and Bessie Marie Askew; and his brother, Joseph.

Raymond was blessed to have Joe and Beulah Dymacek as ‘adopted’ parents and to have an ‘adopted’ brother, J. D. Grubbs, to help support him through his life. Raymond had a love of sports. He played football for Louisa County High School and years later enjoyed watching his grandsons play for Louisa as well. He loved playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He gladly gave his time to help others in the community, especially cutting grass for so many neighbors.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Bethany Christian Church in Bumpass, VA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm with interment to follow. After interment, there will be a meal with an open mic for anyone that would like to share special memories or stories of Raymond. Arrangements are being handled by Norman Funeral Chapel in Goochland, VA.
